BIAK-16 is a CLASS I airborne pathogen contained within Centum Laboratories. It spreads through respiratory transmission and is notable for reclassifying host tissue as non-flesh material.
Pathology
Symptoms
- Persistent coughing beginning approximately 5 seconds after exposure
- Patient tissue reclassified as non-flesh material, reducing effectiveness of standard medical treatments
- Cough intervals every 4–12 seconds
Transmission
BIAK-16 is transmitted via airborne particles released through coughing. Infected individuals release particles at random intervals that can infect nearby personnel.
Incubation
- ~5 seconds before onset of coughing
- Non-flesh tissue classification occurs within 1–2 seconds
Detection Window: 8–16 seconds
Description
BIAK-16 is an airborne pathogen that primarily spreads through respiratory transmission. While not immediately dangerous, the reclassification of host tissue as non-flesh complicates treatment for other injuries sustained during infection. Containment is straightforward provided personnel maintain distance from coughing subjects.
Upon infection, BIAK-16 induces schizophrenia-like sympthoms on the host as: Visual Hallucinations, Auditory Hallucinations, as well as panic, accelerated heart rate and erratic breathing. Eventually, the host will dissapear, for an outsider, it will look like they became a puddle, however, in the host's view, they appear an expansive non-Euclidean space resembling the back rooms of a dated retail outlet, as the infection progresses, the host will develop increased hallucinations until they become too much for the host's body to handle, leading to death.
